Grosse Ile, MI Community

George’s Family Restaurant is located at 1721 West Rd, Trenton, MI 48183. This spot has a rich history that goes back to the 1950s. It started as Charburger, a diner known for its high vaulted ceilings and car hop service on the Dixie Strip. Over the years, it transformed through different owners and themes—from Dixie Family Inn in the 1970s, offering a dance floor and country music, to Farmer Jack’s in the 1980s, which had a salad bar and a wishing well.

Then in 1994, George Dimitrouleas and Chef Mike Giolekas opened George’s Family Restaurant, creating the foundation for the beloved place it is today.

Warm Atmosphere and Classic Diner Feel

What makes George’s so special is its classic American diner vibe combined with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where locals stop in not just for food but to catch up and feel at home. The interior carries a cozy, old-school diner charm that fits perfectly with the menu—simple, hearty, and affordable meals made with care.

A Menu That Has Grown with Time

The menu at George’s Family Restaurant started with traditional diner staples and has grown over the years to include favorites like Broaster Chicken, Broasted Fish, and Broasted Pork Chops, introduced in 2010. Beyond these, diners can enjoy a variety of breakfast items served all day, as well as sandwiches, salads, and daily specials. The menu aims to please everyone, from families to individuals looking for a comforting meal. Vegetarian options are available as well, showing the restaurant’s commitment to serving a broad range of tastes.

Generations of Ownership, Same Dedication

After George sold the restaurant to his son Dino and Dino’s partner Elesha in 2003, the duo kept the same focus on quality food and great service. Later, in 2022, ownership passed to Steve and Samantha Socrates, who pledged to maintain the diner’s traditional values and food offerings. This steady transfer of care through generations has helped George’s stay true to its roots while continuing to serve new generations of diners.

Friendly Service Makes a Difference

One of the reasons George’s is a favorite in Trenton is the friendly staff and service. Regulars are treated like family, and newcomers quickly feel welcomed. Whether it’s a quick breakfast or a relaxed dinner, the staff’s attentiveness and warm service make every visit pleasant.
